Restaurant Review: Holy Smoke, Cyber Hub

Today I am reviewing Holy Smoke, a restaurant that dedicates itself to bringing the tradition of authentic Barbeque style cooking to India. Inside Gurgaon’s most happening location – Cyber Hub, the restaurant is located on the first floor, right next to Hard Rock Cafe. The open terrace in front of the restaurant overlooks the amphitheatre and the DT Cinema ticket counter.

I was met at the restaurant by Saumya, our host for the evening. He is a large Bengali with a larger heart and a lot of warmth. During the night, he made an extra effort to visit our table and suggested some really good items from the menu. Towards the end, he also spent few minutes with us to discuss his life in the culinary industry and we realised that he is someone who takes a lot of pride in the menu and in his job. Yum Yum Cha at Cyberhub, Gurgaon

Yum Yum Cha created quite a rage when it opened in Saket and this time I visited their recently opened Cyberhub outlet. One look around you notice the outlet is themed after the sea– with elements like paper umbrellas, boats, slippers, fish and all the lovely sea creatures, palm trees and the beach with some beautiful origami paintings- a very neatly & nicely organized place with the outside verandah done with the most colourful blend & usage of origami. It is a place full of beautiful origami, colourful, bright & unique with beautiful caricatures of dimsums & sushis in the menu. I was all geared for the Pan Asian Bistro experience of Yum Yum Cha. Restaurant Review: Kitchens Of Asia, CyberHub, Gurgaon

KOA – Kitchens of Asia offers much more as compared to what their name suggests. In fact they offer you with a range of gourmet dishes that encompasses the whole of Asia but served with a unique fashion that will surely mesmerize you. Adorned with a superb ambience and excellent service, it will surely be a gastronomic delight for you.

With Swedish Mafia House, Ellie Goulding, Calvin Harris playing in the backdrop one can easily guess the royalty of this place. The ambience bears the same touch of elegance as the food. The whole place is very well decorated and the sitting arrangements are also very comfortable and spacious. Outside seating is also available. Continue Reading

Experimental Folk Fusion with Mexican delicacy on the table: A Thursday tale of Dos Burros

After a busy Thursday at DLF cyber hub, you walk into the closest eatery to the parking and sway to the music of experimental folk fusion by Himalayan Routes, giving their best shot at the evergreen Bollywood tracks. Dimly lit with blue lights in the exteriors and white lights in the interior, Dos Burros give a very warm feeling of supper with a friend, or even by alone. The eatery has a combination of white & blue and white & brown furniture with pop coloured handkerchiefs and menu to jazz up the entire look. The white painted brick walls are covered with mirrors and frames depicting a Mexican story each. With an open kitchen and plating area, Dos Burros gives you a transparency to what is being served to you. Restaurateurs Amit Arora and Ankur Mahajan’s property can host 120 guests in all, with about odd 70 outdoor seating making it a win-win bet for sundowners. Continue Reading

Restaurant Review: Quaff, DLF Cyber City

Looking for a place to enjoy a relaxing evening after a long, hectic day at work… a day of celebration… or simply for a change from the oh-so-typical hangouts in NCR… Quaff is the place to be. Situated aptly distant from the hustle-bustle and providing you and your gang your space, this place is a must checkout for its offerings.

Accommodating 40-50 outside and an approx. 125-130 inside, the space can be soon known as your “adda” going forward. The seating outside is casual and inside more chic and retro (all hard-wood seating without cushion needs a mention though!).

The first thing you notice once inside is their big bar counter, almost extending from one end to the other, hosting an elaborate assortment of international spirits. (And, by elaborate, I really mean elaborate – You can actually gasp looking at such a collection. Hats off to the creator!). Right behind the bar is the microbrewery made well visible via a big see-through glass, just to give you a feel that you are at the right place to Quaff. The place has been designed so as to accommodate the maximum without giving a house-full cluttered feel. Each sitting place has a uniqueness of its own. The lighting is apt – not too low for you can’t recognize who’s sitting next to you and not too harsh that you wear your shades inside and not seem out of the crowd. All in all, a decently built place. Continue Reading
