Ever wished for a meal in heaven and thought how it would be, Café OMG! can take you through an experience

With something or the other coming up every day in Connaught Place, it’s Umang Tewari’s Café Oh My God (OMG) which has made a place for itself in the heart of the city. Located in F-Block of Connaught Place, as soon as you start climbing up the stairs, you’ll see an angel fairy welcoming you. The staircase looks a little shady; you can’t really decide what is that the doors will open for you. As soon as you enter the place, and get the first look, you will feel as if you have entered a film city set of a heaven shoot.

Restaurant Review: Junkyard Cafe, Rajouri Garden

This time we went out to the newest outlet of Junkyard Cafe, located in the popular Rajouri Garden market. In line with their theme of using junk items stylistically, Umang Tewari and team have used unconventional items to set up the decor. Some of the items that we saw were: drums being used for the bar counter and as pillars, old wines bottles being used as lighting, and old milk containers, shock absorbers, and other spare parts being used as decorating items. Other interesting items we noticed were: part of an old ambassadors’ body hung up next to the bar counter; and a Mona Lisa portrait made entirely out of junk. Continue Reading

Garam Dharam, the latest buzz at Rajouri Garden

Team ChicLifeByte did tell you about Garam Dharam, by Umang Tewari and Mickey Mehta which brought in the nostalgia of veteran actor Dharmendra. And with immense pleasure Team ChicLifeByte announces that the brand has expanded its presence at Rajouri Garden and is buzzing in the famous BK Dutt market. We did make our entry there and found the food to be much more tastier than the Connaught Place outlet. Guess, it just gets better with time. Spread over 3000 sq. ft, Garam Dharam in Rajouri garden is built on the similar lines on which the first outlet of CP is being made. Bollywood Veteran Dharmendra is everybody’s favorite and has been ruling heart since his young days. His movies, his dialogues and his songs are legendary.

Restaurant Review: 3 Pegs Down, Saket

The Texas City de-constructed then constructed again in Clint Eastwood style, wish he would have been here to have a look at the interiors which are so uniquely done. I am talking about the recently opened 3 Pegs Down in Saket- Umang Tewari’s another venture. Be it the cowboy hats, the big iron bell in the pistol world, the pistol shaped lighters, the criminal law books, the wanted posters, the barrel basin in the washrooms, the camel coloured beaded & pinned chairs which hook you for sometime and take you to another world. Even the servers were dressed in cowboy hats and funky leather jackets.

Junkyard Café: A Funk Place made out of Junk

Can you imagine a hip & happening place made out of junk? Even we could not imagine a place like this until reality hit us! Yes, we saw a place made out of junk and the name is true to its description, it’s called Junkyard Café. A brainchild of Umang Tewari who also owns Vault Café, Café Public Connection, Garam Dharam and the recently opened 3 Pegs Down.

The place spread over 13000 sq. ft transported us to a different space altogether. The luxurious and spacious cafe nestled in heart of the capital – Connaught Place had pillars covered with tyres & drawers, seats made of car engine, drums, bamboo, chipboard etc. That’s not all, the place also has a picture of Mona Lisa made out of scrap. A transformer stands out boldly at one of the entrance. On the walls, we could see cycle wheels, broken rear view mirror. Infact, even the bar had colourful drums and old tyres. Another thing which caught our attention was an Aircraft with Junkyard branding. Lights made of cut wine bottles, ceiling made of 8000 empty bottles. Oh! How could we miss the broken motorcycle which made for the perfect picture spot. Junk be utilised, and that too in the most beautiful way is quite evident at Umang’s Junkyard. Junkyard Cafe is one of those places in India which are concept driven. It brings out raw junk world which is grungy, contemporary and at the same time very exclusive!!
