Restaurant Review: Junkyard Cafe, Rajouri Garden

Food July 5, 2016

This time we went out to the newest outlet of Junkyard Cafe, located in the popular Rajouri Garden market. In line with their theme of using junk items stylistically, Umang Tewari and team have used unconventional items to set up the decor. Some of the items that we saw were: drums being used for the bar counter and as pillars, old wines bottles being used as lighting, and old milk containers, shock absorbers, and other spare parts being used as decorating items. Other interesting items we noticed were: part of an old ambassadors’ body hung up next to the bar counter; and a Mona Lisa portrait made entirely out of junk.

#Farzified at Farzi Cafe, Connaught Place

Food February 19, 2016

Getting Farzified was what had been on my mind for a long time now!! Actually, ever since the restaurant opened up at Connaught Place. Though I have been to the Gurgaon outlet but when the place has opened up at sadda Dilli, it’s a different experience. As I made my way to the critically acclaimed award-winning restaurant by Zorawar Kalra, I totally loved the concept. Wooden interiors, well Lit, English Style set up. Even the waiters were dressed in black and white with a red tie.

Re-contextualised for the modern day diner, Farzi Café is attributed to having made Indian dining cool, while bringing Indian cuisine back “in-Vogue”. Amalgamating the European bistro with innovative, futuristic Indian food, Farzi Café offers a unique, genre defining, Indian bistronomie dining experience. Upping the cool quotient and breaking perceptions, it showcases innovation in Indian food and dining using modernist elements such as molecular gastronomy across its food and drinks, turning them on their head while offering a playful, high-energy ambiance.

Restaurant Review: Quaff, DLF Cyber City

Food February 13, 2016

Looking for a place to enjoy a relaxing evening after a long, hectic day at work… a day of celebration… or simply for a change from the oh-so-typical hangouts in NCR… Quaff is the place to be. Situated aptly distant from the hustle-bustle and providing you and your gang your space, this place is a must checkout for its offerings.

Accommodating 40-50 outside and an approx. 125-130 inside, the space can be soon known as your “adda” going forward. The seating outside is casual and inside more chic and retro (all hard-wood seating without cushion needs a mention though!).

The first thing you notice once inside is their big bar counter, almost extending from one end to the other, hosting an elaborate assortment of international spirits. (And, by elaborate, I really mean elaborate – You can actually gasp looking at such a collection. Hats off to the creator!). Right behind the bar is the microbrewery made well visible via a big see-through glass, just to give you a feel that you are at the right place to Quaff. The place has been designed so as to accommodate the maximum without giving a house-full cluttered feel. Each sitting place has a uniqueness of its own. The lighting is apt – not too low for you can’t recognize who’s sitting next to you and not too harsh that you wear your shades inside and not seem out of the crowd. All in all, a decently built place.

The Groghead- sinfully sumptuous!

Food February 1, 2016

Delhi has always been on the radar for entrepreneurs to start their venture and today we talk about one such hideout which is surely one of the most promising gastro pubs in town- The Groghead.

So, is there any ambiguity that we won’t give you a glimpse of such a happening place? I bet you can’t say no, as our readers know us very well. So yes, team ChicLifeByte was invited for that wonderful evening with friends, wine & dine and not to forget a band performance night.

If we talk about gastro pubs, certain things are very mechanical but this was one place I enjoyed spending time. Interestingly, The Groghead is a place where everything is so wonderful be it ambiance, food & drinks or the Halloween barrel.

Restaurant Review: Cafe Dalal Street, Connaught Place

Food January 2, 2016

Ever thought of having a hearty wholesome meal in a comfortable set up of a Stock Exchange Bar? This is what the newly opened Cafe Dalal Street (CDS) in Connaught Place offers. It is the brainchild of 2 young entrepreneurs Himanshu Gupta & Vidit Gupta who studied in UK together and wanted to get bar bites concept in India here which is famous in UK.

Everything is in small portions as Vidit wants that the customer orders more & more variety. There was a drink named Tequilla Roses in the menu made with rose water, milk, sugar & tequilla. It is found nowhere but here. Another very popular drink is the Eliminator (achiever’s drink in UK) which is available here.
