The recently concluded Bombay Times Fashion Week witnessed leading designers showcasing their creations on the coveted ramp but one show which I absolutely loved was of KALKI Fashion. The master of fashion fantasies, KALKI always ensures a captivating show and this time it was a preview of the much awaited couture collection, ‘Athena Collection by Kalki Fashion’. Athena, the Greek Goddess represented wisdom, and feminism, she was the patron goddess of heroic endeavour. Keeping in mind, the collection exuberates the spirit of youth and aspires a woman to wear the grace of wisdom with class.
What delighted me was the aesthetic ode to the Greek-Moroccan culture. It was a passionate affair between the strong color and crafts of India and an urban outlook that is synonymous with the indigenous tribes of Morocco. With a proud display of cultural crafts with contemporary themes, the collection brought to the frontlines an array of designs that speak volumes about their rich heritage. Actress Disha Patani looked splendid in the gorgeous collection and Disha Patani X Kalki Fashion is a sure shot hit.
The collection gives a new breath to the techniques of handmade embroideries and a palette that consists of intriguing shades from rustic blues, luscious lavenders to the infusion of dusty mints that are powerful yet amorphous.
The star studded show which took place on 14th October, 2018 at St. Regis, Mumbai had the leading ladies from the telly town in attendance like Pooja Gor, Tanya Sharma, Madirakshi Mundle, Debina Banerjee, Deepika Singh, Ihana Dhillon, Niharica Raizada, Jasmin Bhasin, Vinny Arora, and Gia Manek. The oh-so gorgeous actors were dressed up in KALKI’s attire from the spectacular Greek-Moroccan collection- Athena. The beauties rocked their look in modern edgy styles.
While most of the celebs wore soothing colours, the Saath Nibhana Saathiya star Tanya Sharma wore an elongated sleeves cocktail gown in moonlight hues. The famous gopi bahu from the Saath Nibhana Saathiya show Gia Manek adorned a grey ruffled gown. While Laado 2 actress Vinny Arora looked like an Indian princess in a mint blue ethnic ensemble, Niharica Raizada, the Miss India UK 2010 looked exquisite in grey shimmery style. Amongst all the indo-western and contemporary styles, Actress Pooja Gor from Pratigya and Dil Se Dil Tak fame Jasmin Bhasin opted to make a presence in a saree acing the ethnic style with drapes. The beautiful ladies graced the occasion and made the night fabulously-fantastic.
The use of the sorbet hues and the feminine silhouettes is what made the collection very preppy indeed! The Floral detailing, the flared gowns and of course the innovative styling, it was quite a surprise package!
Isn’t the collection a perfect fit for the upcoming festivals and occasions!
